He trades bad news and gossip between the eagle and the serpent, Nidhogg, who gnaws at the roots. The four deer; Dåin, Dvalin, Dunøyr and Duratro eat the foliage. Circled around Midgard is the serpent Jormundgandr who will kill Tor during Ragnarok.
